Career fairs better Serves all but the unemployed

Reading my Sunday newspaper yesterday reminded me of how career fairs are little to significantly increase local employment. It seems that nobody is willing to say this and much less are also willing to believe it, but I know it all, but a fact.

After 20 + years in the news business and another 20 + years as a marketing specialist helping potential hires writing resumes of high level, which I can relate my experience with the authorities.

You might think that after helping 5,300 ++ customers to go ahead with the move and move up in their careers that could produce at least one client that has benefited from attending a Career Fair. I can't. That's why I caution any client who gets all excited and goosey on attending career fairs. I do not want their disappointment to affect my marketing plan to help them achieve their goals.

This apparent inconsistency in revealing publicly for the first time, it is important to note that I am in the high-end business writing resume. Almost 97% of my 5,300 ++ customers during my career of more than 20-year are executives, professionals and managers earn between $ 40,000 and $ 350,00 per year that are already in operation, they want to be in management or sales and/or marketing.

Career fairs are all top jobs and career entry-level jobs that do not pay all that well, so do little for people who are already on the market, enjoyed some success and they want to keep moving on an enterprise scale, or any other ladder of their choice.

This makes a lot of sense when you look at who is involved in putting on career fairs, and what they expect to get for their investment. I'm not talking about potential hires, or anyone looking for a job or a better opportunity.

I'm talking about enterprises and organizations, managers of great structure and advertising media, usually the dominant newspaper in the community. Nothing satisfies their needs, their needs, and their public service needs such as career fairs. It has become almost a rite of passage for these special interest groups in our society.

We begin with companies and organizations. Should walk up to a career fair in your community and speak with a representative at a trade booth display, snappy will promptly pick up on the fact that the person is not well dressed person that you expected.

You knew going there that if Microsoft was a participant Bill Gates probably wouldn't have been there, but it was hoped that he would secretly. Later came to realize that the person who sends a large company to represent them at these career fairs is usually the most expendable.

This is why they smile a lot, take your resume (sometimes they do not) and tell you very little about what the company is doing really. Large corporations that are cooking the books (using unacceptable accounting practices to inflate revenues and profits to increase stock prices so executives suck money out faster), and in the worst form that they want to their shareholders and the public to know, would be a fair career putting on their best face.

Just being a Career Fair is a good deal for companies and organizations because it gives the impression that those involved are key players in building community, increase employment and acts as a good citizen company.

If you think of the great conductors of establishment doesn't like career fairs that would sadly mistaken. The managers themselves who hosted the rock concert du jour last week are more than happy to move the rocker off and new vendors.

Plant managers do not give space away as a public service, and take care of the exhibitors ' work. " If any potential candidate who attend the Career Fair ultimately gets hired is their business.

Newspapers and related media (usually radio that needs public service announcements to remain licensed) love career fairs. Internet was gaining publicity and profits that newspapers have lost. Newspapers have been forced to create websites and compete on the Internet whether they want to or not.

Career fairs give additional ads and newspaper profits regardless of the economy. Newspapers generally run a special section advertising the Career Fair as it gives advertisers paying and the event itself more exposure and prominence. Newspapers also feel the need to serve the community that supports them, if people get hired at these career fairs or not.

Been seeing more and more and more career fairs (job fairs) because it is a good deal for three special interest groups that may be very large as a three legged was compared to a hand. You could hold career fairs for the unemployed every other week to Flint, Michigan and still would not affect their depressed economy; Suspect that the same is true in many other communities throughout the country.

When the Government says employment is increasing, public officials are counting on the fact that when an unemployed compensation benefits running out, drop off rolls and inspiegati remain, although they are still unemployed.

The salient point here is this: it is likely that, when people benefit from these career fairs is more design by accident; the unemployed of our economy are the true story is worth telling.
